UAlbany’s Brown and Clune Inducted into Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame

ALBANY — UAlbany men’s basketball head coach Will Brown and former men’s basketball standout Rob Clune are to be inducted into the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend.

Brown and Clune are part of the Class of 2017 in the Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be at the Hilton Hotel in Troy on Sunday, May 21st at 4 p.m.

Brown has served as UAlbany head coach since the 2001-02 season, earning 260 victories at the helm of the Great Danes. He has led UAlbany to five America East Tournament titles, five appearances in the NCAA Tournament, seven total postseason berths and eight seasons with at least 19 victories.

Clune, a member of the UAlbany Hall of Fame, led UAlbany to a pair of NCAA Regional Rounds and a 79-27 overall record. A team captain as a senior in the 1980-81 season, he earned 1,019 points in his career under Coach Doc Sauers, averaging 9.6 points per game.

Other members of the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame affiliated with UAlbany include Doc Sauers, Don Bassett, Lucious Jordan, David Przybylo and Todd Cetnar.
