Siena basketball, Red Cross team up to help Irma victims

LOUDONVILLE– The Siena athletic department and the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York announced Wednesday that they have teamed up for fundraisers for the men’s and women’s basketball games against Florida Gulf Coast in an effort to raise money to assist victims of Hurricane Irma in south Florida.

The men’s basketball fundraiser will take place on Monday, November 13 in their game against FGCU at the Times Union Center, which is also the team’s home opener.

They will also collect donations during the women’s basketball game against the same school on Monday, November 20 at the Alumni Recreation Center on the campus of Siena.

Fans who donate $5 or more will receive a free ticket voucher for a Siena men’s or women’s basketball game later in the 2017-2018 season.

Siena athletic director John D’Argenio said in an official statement; “We hope the Capital Region community will turn out in great numbers to support the dedicated efforts of the first responders and volunteers who remain actively engaged in the rebuilding efforts in Florida.”

Representatives from the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York will be at both games, answering questions about volunteer opportunities for anyone that would like to help out.

Both games begin at 7 p.m.
