QUICK WRAP WITH PHOTOS: Albany Academy lacrosse beats Canterbury in the rain

ALBANY — The Albany Academy Cadets faced off against the Canterbury (Conn.) Saints at home on Wednesday afternoon for a match against the elements, in the rain.

The Cadets took charge immediately dominating the first half with a score of 11-3. The Saints toughed it out in the second half scoring seven goals, with Cal Bautghan as the top scorer for the Saints scoring three of those tallies. However, Albany Academy was able to keep their first half lead making the final score 17-10 in their favor.

The Cadets were able to force turnovers and dominated the ground ball game contributing to their win. The Cadets also won 22 faceoffs keeping Canterbury on their heels defensively.

Attackmen Brett Friedman from Albany Academy led the scoring with five goals for the Cadets. Anthony Sericoio led in assists with five and tacked on three goals. Also, Tom Fiebich had six points on two goals and four assists. Albany Academy goaltender Jake Franchi had nine saves for the afternoon.

The Cadets came into Wednesday coming off of a tough loss 9-7 at home from Choate Rosemary Hall School on April 18. Today the Cadets were ready to play and were able to bounce back for the win as they improve to 6-4 this season. They will be back in Prep League action on Wednesday,  May 2 at home as they take on Berkshire School at 4 p.m.
