Mohonasen wins thriller at the buzzer

ROTTERDAM — Coming into the Mohonasen Warriors first game they were squaring up against a Green Tech team fresh off of a win against Schenectady earlier this week.

Green Tech was in control for most of the game. Coming into the fourth quarter Mohon didn’t have the lead since early in the second quarter.

With five seconds left in the fourth quarter a parent ran onto the court just as Gregory Van Epps nailed a three-pointer to win the game but it was canceled out because the referees called the play dead.
Mohon was given the ball back with 3.6 seconds left and down one point. The ball was in-bounded to junior Jalani Abdul-Aziz (11 pts) and he pulled up for a long three that bounced off the rim right into center Avery Deas hands who put it in just as the buzzer sounded to take the win 70-69.

Duncan Tallman led the charge for the Warriors, finishing with 29 points.

Green Tech moves to 1-1 on the season and Mohon goes to 1-0. Mohon plays Bethlehem next Tuesday, trying to start the season 2-0.
