Dale Earnhardt Jr. to miss race at New Hampshire
Loudon — Dale Earnhardt Jr. will not have any chance of taking the checkered flag this weekend at New Hampshire after experiencing concussion-like symptoms, as announced by Hendrick Motorsports on Thursday.
“I’m disappointed about missing New Hampshire this weekend. I’m looking forward to treatment with the goal of getting back in the race car when the doctors say I’m ready.” Earnhardt said.
Hendrick Motorsports will put Alex Bowman in the driver’s seat for Sunday’s New Hampshire 301(1:30pm(EDT) on NBC Sports Network)
In the event that Jr. can’t race again next week, Jeff Gordon would make his way out of the booth and back down to the track.
“I’m disappointed about missing New Hampshire this weekend. I’m looking forward to treatment with the goal of getting back in the race car when the doctors say I’m ready, Earnhardt Jr. said in a statement.
“Earnhardt Tower”, a seating section at Daytona International Speedway was opened and named in his honor shortly after his death at the track.
