Nassau man killed in PA highway crash
EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA — A Nassau man returning home from college was killed Sunday in a car crash on a Pennsylvania highway.
State Police said Thomas O’Neill, 20, was traveling north near mile marker 83 on Interstate 81 just before 7:00 p.m. when a tractor-trailer crossed the center median and into his lane.
The tractor-trailer first made contact with the rear end of a Chevrolet Impala before hitting the driver’s side door of O’Neill’s Scion TC Coupe.
O’Neill was a 2016 graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush and a student at Virginia Tech. News of his death prompted an outpouring of support on social media.

Funeral services have not yet been announced.
Neither the operator of the truck or the other car involved were injured.
State Police said the highway was closed for about 6 hours while the crash was investigated.
