HOPE!!!!!! A novel idea for Mets fans.

After years of mismanagement the Wilpons are about to sell the Mets to billionaire Steve Cohen.

Christmas came early for Mets fans this year. When the news leaked yesterday afternoon I like many others didn’t believe it. For years the Wilpons refused to sell the team. But as the news was being reported on multiple media outlets I started to tell myself this is really happening.

For years the Mets had to watch other big market teams: Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and even the Yankees spend money to compete for marquee free agents and improve their teams.  Now I understand the Mets lost a lot of money due to the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. But speaking as a fan (I’ve been a diehard Mets fan since I was 11 years old) that’s no excuse not to spend the money necessary to compete for marquee free agents and improve your team. For example letting Zack Wheeler leave without giving him an offer. That’s what the Wilpons did instead of trying to re sign their own free agent.

On a day when the Mets lost Zack Wheeler to of all teams the Phillies. The Mets had managed to make the biggest headline without even making a move. News of this potential sale gives Mets fans hope, hope for the future.

Can you imagine Ronald Acuna in pinstripes? I certainly could. Oh the possibilities!!!!! Hopefully Steve Cohen will open his deep pockets and turn the Mets into a winner. And give Mets fans that elusive World Series trophy they deserve.

It’s not that the Wilpons didn’t want to win they did. They just didn’t know how to go about it the right way. Always going for short term success while sacrificing their long term future. Such as trading top prospects for veterans who are past their prime. (Yes Robinson Cano I’m bringing you up) That’s the legacy of the Wilpons.

So fear not Mets fans there’s hope for the future. Now I’m not saying that the new owner will be perfect, but he’s better than the Wilpons were. Let’s be honest, ANYTHING is better than the Wilpons. There’s hope for a bright future Mets fans. I’m looking forward to that future myself. LET’S GO METS!!!!!!!
