Lake George cruises by Spa Catholic to advance to Class C final

GLENS FALLS — Lake George won every quarter in the contest, easily defeating Spa Catholic by a score of 82-46 in the Class C Semi-Finals at the Cool Insuring Arena Thursday night putting a cap on Spa Catholic’s season.

Lake George started off the game hot going on a 10-0 run in the first 2:04 of the game and at the end of the first their lead grew to 28-11. Spa Catholic couldn’t get anything to fall in the game, only shooting 34% from the field, with Lake George shooting an even 50%.

“I thought our play in the first quarter was outstanding, it’s a great feeling as a coach to be able to see the things you worked on in practice that week work right out of the gate.” Lake George head coach Dave Jones said.

“One thing I loved to see tonight even though we lost was that the kids stayed positive the whole way, always working and the guys on the bench were rooting hard for their teammates. That’s what a team is all about. You can see what type of team you have when you are getting beat badly, but our kids stayed positive the whole way and that’s important to me for a game like this.” Spa Catholic coach Ken Mantia had to say.

The second quarter saw less offense from both teams, but Lake George outscored Spa Catholic 14-13. Lake George scored 10 unanswered points from 6:41-3:48, but then back to back threes from Spa Catholic guards Terel Tillman and Aidan Dagostino snapped the run. Spa Catholic went over two minutes without scoring in the quarter, as from 5:03-2:46 the Saints failed to record a point. Heading into the final period Lake George led by 30, 59-29.

The 4th quarter saw Lake George outscore Spa Catholic 23-18, the highest scoring quarter of the game. Caleb Scrime started the quarter off with a 3, and then on the subsequent possession an and-one.
