Traffic stop leads to multiple drug charges for Troy man

SAND LAKE — A Troy man is facing a slew of charges following a traffic stop on Monday night in the town of Sand Lake.

State Police said they pulled over 21-year-old Nicholas A. Teta III, of Troy, around 10 p.m. on Old South Road for equipment violations. Troopers said they found marijuana, an open container of alcohol and concentrated cannabis inside the vehicle.

Teta, who State Police said was driving with a suspended license, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and numerous traffic violations.

He was processed and released into the custody of the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office to answer an unrelated arrest warrant.
