Thunder fall to Worcester in game two, series tied 1-1
WORCESTER, Mass. — The Adirondack Thunder were stymied in Game 2 as they fell 2-0 to the Worcester Railers on Saturday evening at the DCU Center. The two teams will square off again tomorrow evening in Game 3 with the series tied at one game apiece.
Goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood led the Thunder as he turned aside 25 of the 26 shots he faced in defeat.
Worcester opened the scoring midway through the second period as forward Woody Hudson tallied his team’s first goal of the playoffs. After he won the puck behind the Adirondack net, Hudson jammed the puck towards the nearside post and it deflected past Blackwood for the goal. Forwards Dylan Willick and Yanick Turcotte collected the assists on the play, the first point of the playoffs for both players.
After more than 19 minutes of scoreless hockey to begin the third period, Worcester forward Barry Almeida slotted a breakaway into the empty net to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage. The goal came shorthanded and was recorded as unassisted.
The two teams are back in action tomorrow evening as they square off for Game 3 at 5:05 p.m. at the DCU Center. The series then shifts back to Glens Falls for Games 4 and 5 next week, beginning with Game 4 on Wednesday, April 18 for at 7:00 p.m.
