Firefighters find 31 marijuana plants while battling blaze

BLENHEIM — Firefighters found 31 marijuana plants inside a burning home Tuesday afternoon while battling a chimney fire, Schoharie County Sheriff Anthony Desmond said.

At 2:45 p.m. firefighters were called to the scene of a fire at 141 Roger Jones Rd. When firefighters arrived, they noticed the blaze had quickly extended to the home’s roof and came across the 31 marijuana plants growing inside the home.

Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene and recovered the plants’ remains, all of which had been destroyed in the fire.
