Cohoes man found guilty in child rape case
ALBANY — A Cohoes man was found guilty Friday of repeatedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl over the course of a three year period.
Derrick Rosa, 39, faces 50 years in State Prison when he is sentenced next month on a slew of charges.
Prosecutors alleged Rosa began assaulting the child, at the time 14, in Oct. 2014, through forced oral sex. In the weeks that followed, the abuse allegedly turned to forced intercourse which continued until August 22, 2017.
The man was found guilty on one count of first-degree criminal sexual act, a Class B Felony, one count of second-degree criminal sexual act, a Class D Felony, two counts of first-degree rape, each Class B Felonies, one count of second-degree Rape, a Class D Felony, one count of third-degree rape, a Class E Felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, each Class A Misdemeanors.
The case was presented in front of Judge William A. Carter in Albany County Court.
