Ballston Spa man charged with DWAI after Milton crash
MILTON — A Ballston Spa man faces a laundry list of charges after a Saturday motor vehicle crash in the town of Milton, according to State Police.
Ivan M. Erchak, 44, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle — the thee charges are misdemeanors — along with two other violations.
Troopers said they received a 911 call for an accident on Route 50 and Northline road, by the Stewart’s Shop.
Troopers arrived to find Erchak alongside his vehicle. An investigation uncovered that he failed to stop in time for another vehicle at the light.
State Police noticed Erchak acting in an odd manner and found a controlled substance in his vehicle. He was given several field sobriety tests and a drug reconstruction expert concurred that Erchak was in fact driving under the influence of drugs.
Erchak is scheduled to appear in the Town of Milton Court on Jan. 2.
