Albany Dutchmen ELIMINATED from PGCBL Playoffs

LOUDONVILLE, NY — Led by a Russ Olive three-run triple, the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to end the Albany Dutchmen’s season on Tuesday evening, winning 4-3 and advancing to the next round of the PCGBL Playoffs.

Up three-one, the Dutchmen handed the ball to left-handed pitcher Adam Elliott to start the seventh inning on the mound. After striking out the first Mohawk Valley batter, the Louisville University Southpaw ran into trouble. Joe Engle and Alexis Monge-Rodriguez notched back to back singles before Austin Pollack was hit by a pitch to load up the bases for the DiamondDawgs. Then, with two outs, and a full count, Olive put Mohawk Valley up four-three, despite a diving effort from Albany infielder Justin Childers.

With their final nine outs, the Dutchmen were unable to put a run across the plate.

No.3 Mohawk Valley (29-18) advances to face the top seeded Amsterdam Mohawks (36-12) in the East Division finals, beginning on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. The best of three series kicks off at Amsterdam’s Shuttleworth Park, while game two will be in Little Falls, NY. If necessary, game three would be back in Amsterdam.
