After gathering a halftime lead of 13-7, the Flying Horses saw their undefeated season on the line with only five minutes and fifteen seconds remaining in the final game of the 2016 NYSPHSAA High School football season. Following a touchdown and down by just one point, the Blue Devils opted to go for the possible win with a 2 point conversion, rather than playing it safe with an extra point tie, a move that would haunt them.

With most of his offensive line situated on the right side of the field, the Victor QB connected with Kordell Jackson. The sophomore receiver was no match for the Troy D who stopped him short of the goal line, eventually ending Victor’s season.

Troy ran the remaining time left on the clock out, capturing the W.

“Troy’s won two state championships before, but there’s never been a 13-0 team,”  head coach Bob Burns told the Troy Record. “That was the challenge to them all week. For as long as they live, no one can take it away from them.”

Troy joins Cambridge and Glens Falls in the 2016 Title count as Section II went three for three on the weekend, capturing more state Championships than any other section.
