‘Cats come short on the road at Vermont
BURLINGTON – The Tri-City ValleyCats gave up six runs in game one of a three game set with the Vermont Lake Monsters, falling on the road by a final score of 6to 3.
In the third, the ValleyCats put up three solid runs which gave them a comfortable edge over the Lake Monsters, who up until this game were experiencing a very laggy offensive performance.
Tyler Britton delivered three stellar innings of work for the ValleyCats to start the game, allowing only three baserunners, while striking out six.
In the fourth, Vermont would score it’s first run when Steven Pallares was walked with bases loaded. From there the Lake Monsters would keep on digging, and ended up tying the game in the seventh.
It would be a three run eighth inning from the Lake Monsters that finally did the ValleyCats in on a muggy summer night.
For Vermont, tonight’s win came at a time when they so desperately needed one, as it snapped an 11 game losing streak.
Thankfully both the Lowell Spinners and Connecticut Tigers also lost today, so the ValleyCats remain only two games out of first in the NYPL’s Stedler Division.
The ‘Cats and lake Monsters will take on each other again tomorrow, beginning at 6:05pm in Burlington.
