ValleyCats roll to 8-3 victory over Spinners

Daz Cameron fell a double short of the cycle, but collected four hits and 3 RBI as the Tri-City ValleyCats (5-6) defeated the Lowell Spinners (9-2) for the second consecutive night. For the first time in the 2016 season, the ValleyCats have won back-to-back games.

Third baseman Randy Cesar added three hits, a run and an RBI in the effort, and Ryne Birk, playing in his fifth game with the ‘Cats, knocked in two RBI.

The two teams combined for five errors and left 19 men on base in the nine-inning contest.

Chavez struck out five batters in 4 1/3, but allowed six hits and three walks. The duo didn’t allow any Spinners to have a multi-hit game, scattering seven hits across nine innings.

Daniel Gonzalez (1-1) allowed five runs and seven hits in four innings to take the loss. Daniel Zandona and Stephen Nogosek combined to allow three runs and seven hits in relief.

The ‘Cats offense was consistent throughout the game, scoring in all but three innings, and and out-hitting the Spinners 14-7.

The ValleyCats return home for a three game set against the Williamsport Crosscutters beginning tomorrowJune 28, with first pitch set for 7:00 p.m. It will be a lefty-lefty matchup as Brett Adcock will take the hill for the ValleyCats, facing southpaw Ranger Suarez.
