PGCBL announces division realignment for 2018 season

On Wednesday afternoon, the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League announced a division realignment set to take effect for the 2018 season.

The league will expand to three divisions, adding a Central Division on top of the pre-existing East and West Divisions.

The East Division will consist of the three teams that play in the Capital Region, the Albany Dutchmen, Glens Falls Dragons and Amsterdam Mohawks as well as the Saugerties Stallions and Oneonta Outlaws.

The Central Division will also have five teams. Those franchises will be the Adirondack Trail Blazers, 2017 league champion Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, the Utica Blue Sox and an unnamed expansion franchise in Watertown. Additionally, the Onondaga Flames are set to be part of that division as well but are on voluntary suspension for the 2018 season while they play in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.

The West Division will be four teams; the Elmira Pioneers, Geneva Red Wings, Jamestown Jammers and Newark Pilots.

Also, each division nominated a member to be on the league’s new Executive Committee. Jason Brinkman of Albany will be the member for the East, Travis Heiser of Mohawk Valley for the Central and Robbie Nichols of Elmira will represent the West.

The 2018 PGCBL season will begin in early June 2018.
