Nassau teen arrested for strangling young girl

NASSAU, NY — Police in Nassau arrested a 17-year-old male for allegedly strangling a 12-year-old female in the area of Griswald Street in the village on Friday, police say.

The teen, whose name we are withholding because of his age, was charged with assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a Child. He was arraigned in Town of Schodack court by Justice Paul Peter and handed over to the Rensselaer County Department of Probation.

An order of protection was issued, and the teen is due back in Nassau village court at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15.
