A new beginning

Let’s face it, area codes don’t usually change, and sports writers rarely make the jump across the newsroom to the serious side of the operation.

While many of our world-class storytellers have permanent plans to create long and decorated careers in the “toy department,” we as a company recognize that change is coming whether we like it or not. As a result, we’re bringing our news division to the front row, next to the legacy brand of 518 Sports. Effective Saturday, August 12, 518 Sports will no longer operate as an independent operation of the organization.

We are pleased to announce that the current website will merge with UpstateCourier.com and form the area’s ONLY non-aligned, full-service digital student newspaper.

Don’t worry, the far-reaching, community-first sports coverage we have provided over the past 27-months isn’t going anywhere. We will continue to cover all of the area’s teams in the same way we have, and we expect you to see little to no change in content or coverage.

Upstate Courier Sports; new name, same great coverage
