Dutchmen and Dragons suspended in the ninth, will resume Thursday

ALBANY — As day turned to night at Siena Field on Wednesday, the Albany Dutchmen and Glens Falls Dragons made it to the top of the ninth inning before putting the game on hold due to darkness.”

After falling behind 1-0 early, Albany’s Justin Decker tied the game in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI groundout.

Rice University’s Brad Gneiting then put the Dutchmen up 5-1 with a bases clearing three-run triple in the bottom of the fourth inning. Minutes later, Nick Estrella scored off a Glens Falls throwing error while stealing third base to make it a 6-1 game.

Dutchmen starting pitcher Greg Marino lasted four innings, and despite allowing baserunners in every frame, the Stony Brook ace managed to give up just one run.

The two teams volleyed for the lead in the seventh inning, each putting up two runs.

Glens Falls brought the game to its 8-4 stoppage score in the eighth inning on an RBI walk from Ryan Beamish.

The Dutchmen and Dragons will pick up the contest where they left off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, before playing each other in the regularly scheduled 7:05 p.m. game at East Field in Glens Falls.
