Thursday’s Sectional high school softball scoreboard

Thursday marked the beginning of Section II’s postseason softball tournament to determine which five lucky teams will advance to the State Championships next month.

There were no Class AA teams in action, but their side of the tournament will begin Monday afternoon.

CLASS A
No.9 Catholic Central- 5, No.8 Mohonasen- 0
Catholic Central advances to top seed South Glens Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The contest is at South Glens Falls.

No.10 Amsterdam- 4, No.7 Queensbury- 3 (extra innings)
Amsterdam advances to face No.2 seed Burnt Hills in the quarterfinals on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The game is at Burnt hills’ home facilities.

CLASS B
No.9 Corinth- 17, No.8 Emma Willard- 17
Corinth will now play at No.1 Cohoes on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the sectional semifinals.

No.10 Hoosier Falls- 3, No.7 Hudson- 2
Hoosick Falls will now play at No.2 Ichabod-Crane on Monday for a spot in the semifinals. The game will began at 4:30 p.m.

CLASS C
No.1 Greenwich- 10, No.15 Saratoga Catholic- 1
No.8 Duanesburg- 13, No.9 Rensselaer- 0
Duanesburg will play at Greenwich on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals.

No.4 Warrensburg- 7, No.13 Mayfield- 6
No.5 Lake George- 4, No.12 Maple Hill- 3
Warrensbug will host Lake George in the quarterfinals on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

No.2 Chatham- 17, No.15 Middleburgh- 1
No.7 Hoosier Valley beat No.10 Canajoharie, but no final score was reported.
Chatham will host Hoosic Velley on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals.

No.3 Mechanicville beat No.14 Galway, but a final score was never reported.
No.6 Greenville- 8, No.11 Cambridge- 6
Greenville and Mechanicville will play for a spot in the semifinals on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The game is at Mechanicville.

The Class D portion of the tournament will open up quarterfinal play on Monday. All of the games start at 4:30 p.m.
