ValleyCats outfielder Carlos Machado named New York-Penn League player of the week
TROY — ValleyCats outfielder Carlos Machado has been named the New York-Penn League’s Player of the Week for his efforts from August 20-26.
In five games last week, Machado went 15-for-22 at the plate with four runs scored and three runs batted in. His .682 batting average across that span was the highest in all of affiliated baseball.
Machado is the first ValleyCat to earn Player of the Week honors this year. He is currently on a season-best eight-game hit streak entering play for the ValleyCats on Monday.
