UAlbany’s TD Ierlan named US Lacrosse player of the week
ALBANY –– After an impressive week at the face-off X, UAlbany’s TD Ierlan was selected as the Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, the publication announced on Monday.
The freshman also earned America East Rookie of the Week honors today after leading UAlbany to a pair of road victories over Harvard and Stony Brook.
Ierlan won nearly 84% of his faceoffs during the week, starting with 26-for-32 at the X with 18 ground balls at Harvard and finishing with 26-for-30 with 20 ground balls at Stony Brook, each career-highs. He also had a goal in each game, combining for two goals, 52 faceoff victories and 38 ground balls.
Ierlan is the first UAlbany men’s player to earn this honor this year; earlier this season, Sarah Martin of the UAlbany women’s team was a national player of the week.
As of Monday, he is second in all of Division I in faceoff rate at 71.8% and first with 12.33 ground balls per game.
Ierlan and the Great Danes will host UMBC on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m.
