Maryland Shortstop Kevin Smith joins Connor Hall to Talk His College Career and More
Kevin Smith, a sophomore at the University of Maryland, has been an all around athlete since he was 4 or 5, and he has shown that on the diamond his whole life.
When Kevin was nine, he won the New York State Championship with East Greenbush Castleton Little League.
“We had one of the best teams in the nation. Our work ethic and determination was better than everyone else’s and you look up and down our lineup and we are all still successful in life today.” said Kevin.
Being a Division I athlete takes a lot of commitment, and it’s certainly not for everyone, but he credits his work ethic and commitment to his little league coach Tom Hall, the South Troy Dodgers organization, and his father.
“I think it set us up for success, the work ethic and determination, and it really payed off at the next level”
Kevin is currently batting .249 for the University of Maryland, with 5 homeruns, and his team is out to a 9-6 start in the Big Ten.
Kevin wasn’t only successful on the diamond when he was younger, as he achieved a major accomplishment at the age of 4, and has also taken down some of the best teams in the country as a member of the Terrapins.
