Christian, Siena get first win at George Washington
WASHINGTON, DC — Siena freshman Jalen Pickett scored a game-high 19 points and teammate Kevin Degnan drilled five threes as the college’s men’s basketball team defeated George Washington 69-61 Thursday, giving newly minted head coach Jamion Christian his first program win.
Pickett dished out six assists and added five rebounds for Siena (1-1) which held a 42-32 rebounding advantage, fueling an 18-8 margin in second chance points. Degnan posted a career-high 15 points and eight rebounds, while shooting a stellar 5-6 from distance.
Justin Mazzulla led George Washington (0-2) with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Terry Nolan, Jr. added 17 points and nine rebounds.
After playing two games in three days, the Saints will have eight days to prepare for their next matchup against Norfolk State on Friday, Nov. 16 at 8:30 p.m. The game is at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
