Californian signs the dotted line to join Saints

LOUDONVILLE — The Siena athletic department announced Wednesday that they have officially signed San Jose, California native Jake Wojcik as their first member of the Class of 2022. Wojcik had given a verbal commitment in December 2016 and made it official Wednesday.

Wojcik has a solid basketball history, being named the 2016-17 Alameda Newspaper Group’s South Bay/Peninsula player of the year, as well as the same award in the Western Catholic Athletic League and the Prep2Prep Central Coast section player of the year. Additionally, he was named on MaxPrep’s first team for All-Northern California, second team all-metro and third team all-state for all of California. He did this while averaging 15.6 points per game and led his team, Bellarmine Prep, to a 14-0 league record and a 25-3 overall mark.

Wojcik has basketball in his blood, as father Dave played at San Jose State from 1987-1991 and served as the program’s head coach from 2013 until last July. He is also the grandson of former Loyola Athletic Director Joe Boylan, who hired current Siena head coach Jimmy Patsos for the same job at Loyola in 2004.

He will be eligible at the beginning of the 2018-19 season.
