Nor’easter postpones Section II field hockey, soccer tournaments
SARATOGA SPRINGS — In anticipation of an early winter storm expected to hit the area Saturday, Section II Athletics on Friday postponed its field hockey and soccer tournaments.
According to a post on the governing body of high school athletics in the Capital District and lower North Country’s website, all field hockey championship games at Gloversville High School will now be played on Sunday, October 28. The Class B matchup will begin at 12 p.m., followed by the Class C and A games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
Girls’ soccer
The C and D girls’ soccer semifinals have been moved to Monday. No. 2 Lake George will take on No. 3 Schoharie at 3 p.m. and No. 1 Stillwater faces No. 4 Hoosic Valley at 5 p.m. at Mechanicville High School.
No. 2 Oppenheim Ephratah St. Johnsville will play No. 3 New Lebanon at 3 p.m., while No. 4 Northville goes up against No. 1 Fort Ann at 5 p.m. Both games are at Fonda-Fultenville High School.
The winning teams will compete in the girls’ soccer championship games at Mechanicville High School Wednesday. The Class D title game kicks off at 5 p.m., followed by Class D at 7 p.m.
Boys’ soccer
All Sectional Championship games scheduled for Saturday have been moved to either Monday or Tuesday evening at Colonie High School.
Monday:
Class B— 4 p.m. No. 2 Ichabod Crane vs. no. 1 Schalmont
Class C— 6 p.m. No. 2 Maple Hill vs. No. 1 Lake George
Tuesday:
Class D— 3 p.m. No. 2 Oppenheim Ephratah St. Johnsville vs. No. 1 Fort Ann
Class A— 5 p.m. No. 6 Ballston Spa vs. No. 1 Queensbury
Class AA— 7 p.m. TBD
