Let’s celebrate Brady and Mahomes in Super Bowl

I express no rooting interest in Super Bowl LV.

There’s not a player or a team wearing a black hat at all. Not even Antonio Brown will stop me from enjoying it or rooting against him.

Life’s too short to not appreciate what we will see in the Super Bowl on Sunday. It’s the Greatest of All Time (Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady) going up against the Best Quarterback in the NFL (Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes).

This presents so many storylines and reactions that come out of this matchup. The story itself is what fans should be focusing on when it comes to both quarterbacks. It’s not about the teams or other supporting cast members.

Brady represents as the G.O.A.T for winning six Super Bowls and making 10 Super Bowl appearances. For him to go to the Super Bowl as a Buc and to do it without New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, his legacy keeps enhancing. Football fans and football wonks liken Mahomes to the baby G.O.A.T since his electrifying talent could help him accomplish what Brady accomplished when his career is all said and done.

The former Patriots quarterback plans on playing for a couple of more years or maybe even more. He would love to play until he is 50 if he can, and he wants to get 10 Super Bowl rings. He can do it from watching him play this season. Look, he is not the quarterback he used to be from watching him throw pick-6 this season. It’s hard to be when he is 43 years old. But he still can make that much-needed touchdown pass when he needs to as we saw in this year’s playoffs.

Brady is still so good that the Buccaneers do not play in the Super Bowl without him, let alone make the playoffs. He raises everyone’s game to another level from making his wide receivers and running backs better to increasing the intensity of defensive players at practice and on gamedays.

It’s been fun watching him play this postseason. He can cap a storybook ending this season with a Super Bowl championship. His seventh championship would be the sweetest of all since he is doing at an age when NFL players retire and the body of a football player breaks down.

Mahomes represents everything that is great about the game. He is not only just an excellent quarterback, but he is such a great person. He is so easy to market, and it’s understandable why he is now the National Football League.

Forget the fact the Chiefs quarterback put up video game numbers when he is under center. It’s how he orchestrates and choreographs plays that vow the football fan. It’s like watching Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performing classical music on stage. It’s like seeing Leonardo da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa in person.

With a loaded offense that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Chiefs general manager Brett Veach handed to Mahomes to throw, he will make more Super Bowl appearances. He certainly can win more than one Super Bowl. How many Super Bowl championships can he get? His legacy depends on that when it comes to him being one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game or usurping Brady as the new G.O.A.T.

Mahomes escapes criticism because all he does is win the big games. It helps that he is so good with the media and he never gets in scandals or controversies. But he is not naive to know he is not a sacred cow. The Skip Baylesses, Colin Cowherds and Rob Parkers of the world are ready to pounce on him as soon as he loses playoff games and Super Bowls. He knows if Brady can be criticized, so can he. It comes with the territory of being a quarterback.

Mahomes goes for a back-to-back attempt at winning a championship this Sunday. If he does that, he could be on his way to win a lot more championships. It becomes easy once he can win two or three Super Bowl championships as Brady can attest.

Brady and the Bucs defense will see to it that Mahomes is stuck at one for the time being.

This Super Bowl features both quarterbacks writing another story of their own, which makes this game appealing. Brady keeps making history or Mahomes starts making a history of his own.

I don’t have a preference on who to root for. I like both quarterbacks. I like what they stand for.

It’s so easy to root for Brady now that he is not a Patriot. I probably wouldn’t have been sentimental towards him if he was still doing his thing as a Patriot.

If he wins another Super Bowl, I can live with it and sleep well. If Mahomes wins it, I will be happy myself.

With the way these two quarterbacks are playing right now, this could be the best Super Bowl ever.

This Super Bowl serves as a celebration of the two quarterbacks we may have seen in our lifetime.
