Game Recap: CBA 57 Albany 18

A week after the Falcons of Albany High School defeated Saratoga by a score 16-14,  the Falcons travelled to Christian Brothers Academy, to take on the Brothers. The Brothers got off to a hot start in week 1 by defeating Ballston Spa 34-0. The Brothers’ defense and running game looked very impressive in the shutout, and it was quite obvious that Albany would be facing a very talented CBA team.

CBA received the ball first, but turned it over to Albany with a fumble early in the first drive. The Falcons then returned the favor on their first offensive play of the game. Albany QB Noah John attempted to throw the ball deep down the right sideline. The ball landed in the hands of CBA CB/RB Taurian Taylor. CBA took over, but Taurian Taylor fumbled on an attempted fourth down conversion. Albany took over on downs. It would be a quick 3-and-out, the Brothers took over and moved as quick as they could. CBA QB and Harvard commit, Max Jones scored on a 5-yard run.Albany quickly answered with a Jarrell Chaney touchdown, but failed the 2-point conversion, tying the game at 6. CBA answered quickly. Max Jones connected with Taurian Taylor for a 69-yard touchdown. Then, the Brothers successfully converted on the 2-point opportunity. At the end of the first quarter, the Brothers had a 14-6 lead.

Albany punted 3 times in the second quarter, but CBA took advantage of Albany’s missed opportunities. The Brothers scored two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. Both Taurian Taylor and Brian Tucker scored for the Brothers. It seemed as though the Brothers were running away with the game after a blocked punt, but Ky’ere Tillery recovered a CBA fumble and took it 88-yards to the house as time expired in the second quarter. CBA had a 29-12 lead at the half.

CBA came out strong in the second half, and completely ran away with the game. The Brothers’ defense kept the Falcons in check, while the Brothers offense kept pouring it on. At the end of the fourth, the Brothers had secured a 57-18 victory. The Brothers, coached by Joe Burke moved to 2-0 on the season. The Brothers will now set their sights on the Saratoga Blue Streaks. CBA will travel to Saratoga on Friday for their week 3 matchup, which should be a good game.
