Coxsackie man dead after police chase, car ends up in the Hudson

Coxsackie, NY — A Coxsackie man is dead after driving his car into the Hudson River during a police chase Friday night. 

Jeffrey Dean, 48, was pulled over at the intersection of Route 81 and Route 93, after which he allegedly assaulted an officer and took off. Dean then headed toward Riverside Park in Coxsackie, where he drove off a boat ramp and exited his vehicle.

Police told Robert Downen, of the Times Union that there was “no contact between officers’ vehicles and the car Dean was driving.”
