America has Warriors’ fatigue

The Warriors' presence in the NBA Finals has made everyone disinterested.

The NBA Finals start Thursday night, and for the fourth straight year, America is subjected to another championship round of Cleveland Cavaliers-Golden State Warriors.

ABC, ESPN and the NBA may be happy since it would provide revenue boon, but for basketball fans, it has become a tired charade, especially after they had their hopes up that the Houston Rockets could have been that team that ended the Warriors’ run, which was not the case as they lost to the defending NBA champions in Game 7 Monday night in Houston.

It’s a great matchup on the surface, but it isn’t. The Warriors are loaded offensively for LeBron James to keep up, which was the case last year in the NBA Finals as they won in five. No one wants to see the same outcome again, which is why basketball fans were hoping for a new matchup just for the sake of change.

It’s hard to be optimistic that things will change this year when the Warriors roster is still better. Sure, the Cavaliers change their roster in the offseason and during the season, but it is still not as good as the Warriors. If anything, this current roster is worse than last year’s. It’s just James and garbage. There was a reason Saturday NIght Live did a skit on James’ awful supporting cast, which somehow was not even aired.

The Cavaliers are a glutton for punishment. They are only participating in the NBA Finals since someone has to represent the Eastern Conference as a sacrificial lamb to the Warriors. Just like the Nets have to play that role in the 2002 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, which they got swept and outclassed.

If LeBron and the Cavaliers somehow beat the Warriors four times, then he is the greatest of all time. No questions asked. Good luck to that happening. The Cavaliers are not playing the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics anymore. As good as those three teams are, they don’t have the shooters the Warriors have where they can recover from a deficit quickly or when they can make a five-point lead to turn into a 10-point lead in a span of three minutes.

The Warriors have taken care of business in the second season by beating the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans in the playoffs. They fought off the pesky Houston Rockets in the Western Conference finals by taking them to seven games. They have found ways to win by playing defense and getting shots when they needed it. Playing the Cavaliers will be a breeze for them.

With the Warriors, there are so much matchups where they can attack with their plethora of scorers. If Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson struggle, Kevin Durant can bail them out along with Draymond Green. With the Cavaliers, the Warriors will be content to let James score since the Cavs don’t have other scorers who can match up well with the Warriors.

Quite frankly, this is going to be a four-game sweep. It’s hard to believe the Cavaliers can come up with one win against that team. The Warriors have that hunger where they know they can have a dynasty of their own if they win the Finals, and they are going to want to pulverize their opponent to submission on their way to another championship. There has not been any complacency with that team, which is why they are in this position.

It’s hard to get excited about the Finals. There hasn’t been much talk about it, either. From talking to most basketball fans, they are not going to be watching. Who can blame them? Not only are the matchups unappealing, but the Warriors are such a polarizing team.

The Warriors are a hard team to root for. They are cocky and arrogant, and they have backed it up with wins. They are self-righteous for their own good. There is not one likable player on that roster. It wasn’t that way until Durant brought his swagger and his awful personality to that team.

The sooner this series ends, the better off everyone will be. It’s been a long season. No one wants to watch this series go any further when everyone knows the inevitable. A sweep would be best for all of us.

Count me out when it comes to watching these Finals.

Watching the awful Mets is more fun than watching another Warriors championship.
