This past weekend, the New York Mets wrapped up a 4 game series with the San Francisco Giants. The Mets started out the series with two losses, but bounced back to win the second half of the series, splitting the 4 game set with San Francisco. Cespedes didn’t play in game one, and went 1 for 4 in game two, but his play in games three and four may have earned him the nickname, Yoenis “Giant Slayer” Cespedes.
In game 3, Cespedes went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, and 3 runs batted in.

Cespedes’ hot bat helped carry a powerful Mets offense, as New York would go on to win by a score of 9 to 5.
In the fourth and final game of the series, Cespedes continued his offensive dominance.
Giants SP Jeff Samardzija carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Sunday’s game, but he could not carry it past that point. Curtis Granderson broke up the no-hit effort to start the inning.

Now if you read the title of this article, you could probably guess who the next batter was, but I’ll tell you anyways. Yoenis Cespedes stepped into the box, hoping to keep the line moving. Cespedes liked how it felt when he went yard on Saturday, so he decided to do it again.

Cespedes’ home run, along with Thor dropping the hammer on San Francisco’s hitters, carried the Mets to a 2-0 win and a split series.

Cespedes also became the fastest Met to hit 4o home runs while wearing the orange and blue.

There is no doubt that Cespedes’ bat was one of the main reasons that the Mets bounced back to split the series. The Giant Slayer went 4 for 9 in the second half of the series, with 3 home runs and 5 runs batted in. The Mets hope that Cespedes can continue to swing a hot bat as they try to make the playoffs after last year’s World Series appearance.
