WRGB’s Lewis is moving on to Flint

Nearly 23 months after the first installment of WRGB’s ambitious local week night sports show, Upstate Sports Edge, Jason Lewis will spend his last night at the Sinclair owned station on Friday.

“after two incredible years and a lifetime of memories, my time in the Capital Region is coming to an end,” the Arizona State University graduate said in a Tweet on June 23. “It’s truly been an honor covering so many athletes and communities that share the same passion and love for local sports as I do.”

Lewis, who was brought in ahead of Upstate Sports Edge’s premiere in 2015, previously freelanced with News 12 New Jersey and spent time as sports director at KTXS-TV n Abilene, Texas before arriving at 1400 Balltown Road. His next stop will be at WJRT (ABC 12) in Flint, Michigan.

“Thank you all so much for inviting me into your homes, and making me feel a part of the 518 family,” he went on to say. “It’s crazy to look back and see how far Upstate Sports Edge has come since our first episode.”

Lewis’s departure leaves Brittany Devane as the show’s lone day one survivor since Doug Sherman took a full-time gig with ESPN and Kelly O’Donnell moved across town for a job at Siena College.
