Whitley is ready to take on the ‘Cats

Troy, NY — As the Tri-City ValleyCats prepare for a critical three game home stance, Niskayuna’s favorite son was ready to come home.

After getting drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in round one of last year’s MLB Draft, Garrett Whitley headed down to Florida to play in the Gulf Coast League.  He would spend much of the 2015 season down there, before getting called up to the Hudson Valley Renegades, where he would play 12 games.

Whitley has spent this entire season with the Renegades, but it will be his first time back to the stadium he grew up going to as a young lad.

“It’s kind odd I never thought I was going to end up back here” Whitley said prior to taking batting practice. “I’m excited,” Whitley went on to say.

Garrett and the Renegades enter tonight’s game on top of the McNamara Division by one and a half games.

Tonight’s game at “The Joe” is set to start at 7:00pm.  For tickets CLICK HERE.
