UAlbany men’s basketball ranked #6 in mid-major poll

ALBANY — For the third straight week, the UAlbany men’s basketball team is ranked within the top 10 of the mid-major top 25, checking in at #6.

This is the third week in a row the Danes have been ranked in the top 10, coming in at #8 two weeks ago and jumped up to #5 last week, before being moved down a spot in this week’s rankings.

They are the only ranked team in the state of New York and the second-highest team in the America East, behind Vermont at #4.

UAlbany is 8-1 so far this season, with their only loss coming on the road at the hands of Monmouth on November 27.

The voting panel consists of 31 mid-major college basketball coaches from around the country, including Danes head coach Will Brown and Siena bench boss Jimmy Patsos.

The Great Danes will be in action on Wednesday at home taking on Bryant, and then will make the short bus ride to the Times Union Center for the Albany Cup against Siena on Saturday evening. Those games will begin at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
