UAlbany Frat party turns Schodack Island State Park upside down

SCHODACK — A University at Albany Frat party got out of hand Saturday at Schodack Island State Park, forcing a police response of 30+ officers.

The event, branded as a music festival called “Rumble in the Jungle,” was hosted by Fuerza Latina, the Delta chapter of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, according to the Times Union.

Police were called after concert goers grew aggressive when park officials attempted to pull the plug on the event. “They started getting crazy so we tried to shut it down and people were swearing at us and throwing stuff,” a park employee said.

Park Police along with Schodack Police, the New York State Police, East Greenbush Police and Sheriff’s deputies responded to the park which is located off Route 9J in the hamlet of Schodack Landing.

Alcohol and drug use are believed to have played a factor in the chaos. One Times Union photo even shows two patrons on top of a car.

This isn’t the first time SUNY students have “caused trouble” in the sleepy cow town, as a close Upstate Courier source points out,”They used to go to Berch Hill, but they got kicked out of their for acting up.” The source couldn’t recall if the group was “Fuerza Latina” but affirmed UAlbany students were involved.

Approximately 1,200 people were accounted for on Saturday and the park is open today.
