Thursday’s Section II Boys Basketball Rundown

Well it was a wild night of high school hoops around the suburban council on the boys side.  No game had bigger stakes than Colonie and Guilderland.  The student sections for both schools were talking smack all week as the Red Sea (Gland) and the Tribe (Colonie) were set to face off.  Colonie dominated the entire 1st half with solid scoring from Isaiah Moll, Bryce Waterman, and Brendan Mulson.  Colonie led at the half 34-12 and it ended with an Isaiah Moll half-court shot that erupted the Tribe.  The 2nd half was more of the same for Colonie, great defense and consistent scoring.  Isaiah Moll even added a dunk to his already stellar performance leading the Raiders with 18 points.  While Bryce Waterman had 14, and Brendan Mulson had a late 3 pointer to give him 13 for the game.  And then with just over 3 minutes to go, the game took a turn for the worst.  The Colonie student fan section got so hyped and intense, that one of their students took the Colonie Raider flad and waved it in the Guilderland fans’ faces.  A parent for Guilderland grabbed the student and then chaos set in.  There were multiple people pushing and bodies crowding around the area up in the bleachers.  There was panic everywhere until the police and teachers stepped in preventing further problems.  The game was called off and Colonie won 64-30 ina hostile and lively game that won’t be forgotten.  The other scores from around the capital region:

Schenectady 75 – Albany 65

Burnt Hills 55 – Mohonasen 53

Averill Park 59 – Ballston Spa 43

Troy 81 – CBA 66

Bethlehem 79 – Columbia 33

Shaker 71 – Niskayuna 55
