Tebow Time Part 2?

Tim Tebow was a Heisman Award-winning QB at the University of Florida, and he was drafted by the Denver Broncos during the 2010 NFL Draft. His football career was short-lived because his style of play wasn’t compatible with many teams’ offenses.

During his five year career, Tebow threw 17 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and had a rating of 75.3. He played for the Broncos, Jets, and Patriots, and he was cut by the Eagles before the start of the 2015-2016 season. He just didn’t have what it takes to make it in the league. He was a great college QB, but struggled while playing professionally due to his style of play. Despite fans, such as myself, hoping he’d make it in the league, he didn’t. Well, it turns out that Tebow fans may be able to see him take the field again, just not the same type of field.

Yes, you read that correctly, Tim Tebow is eyeing a professional sports comeback as a baseball player. He will be holding a tryout for MLB teams next Tuesday. You’re probably reading this thinking, what team is actually going to consider signing a guy that hasn’t played since high school.

Yes, you also read that tweet correctly, all but two MLB teams plan to attend, but there is still time for the White Sox and Nationals to change their minds and send a scout.

Why are teams actually considering signing Tim Tebow? Well, one reason could definitely be ticket sales. Many non-contenders struggle to fill their stadiums with fans, and if they don’t fill their stadiums, they lose money. At the end of the day, it’s still a business, and the teams are looking to make money. If a team were to sign Tim Tebow, they could market him, and increase their chances to make money. They could sell shirts, posters, action figures, the list goes on. But out of everything they could sell, the most important thing would be tickets. If they don’t sell you a ticket, they can’t sell you anything that is inside the stadium. The signing of Tim Tebow would be a marketing strategy for most, if not all, MLB teams.  While I hope he makes it, I believe that the signing of Tim Tebow would just be a big publicity stunt. I could easily see Tim Tebow signing with a non-contender, because it would be a way for teams to put butts in seats, and that would make it much easier for the teams to make a profit.
