South Troy Dodgers advance to AABC World Series

TROY — The South Troy Dodgers 16U Baseball team is headed to the AABC World Series after beating the Brooklyn Bonnie’s 2-1.

South Troy will face some tough competition when they kick off pool play in Waterbury, CT on Wednesday, against the Head First Black Sox.

“I’m confident in our team entering pool play. I believe that we can get out of our pool and make noise in the double elimination round. We have actually played one of our pool play opponents and we aren’t intimidated. We know what it’s going to take to become World Champs and we are going to do our best to make that happen. There’s only twelve teams left in the country playing at this point for an AABC World Championship, that’s impressive and I’ll put my guys up against anyone in the country. We are confident in ourselves and we are ready for the challenge.” head Coach Kevin Scorsone said when asked about his feelings going into the World Series.

No matter what happens in the coming days, the fact that these kids even made it out of their region is an accomplishment in itself. “As a coach, I have never been more proud of a team that I have coached. We had a tough road to get to the World Series and they never stopped competing and believing that we could win. As a coach, that’s all you can ask for out of your team. They deserve all the credit in the world.” Coach Scorsone said.
