Seventh inning surge pushes Dutchmen past Blue Sox

UTICA — The Albany Dutchmen pulled off a 17-7 win over the Utica Blue Sox on Monday night in central New York.

Albany got out to a quick 9-0 lead before Utica could get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. By the start of the sixth inning, the game was neck and neck with the Dutchmen holding on to a thin 9-7 lead.

But Albany got the last laugh, scoring eight runs in their final four plate appearances, pulling away with the ten run win.

Ole Miss ace Thomas Spinelli was credited with the win on the mound while allowing four runs and eight hits.

The Dutchmen improved to 19-7 on the season, and their next contest will come against the Glens Falls Dragons at Siena Field on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
