Porcello delivers as Sox pummel Tigers

Rick Porcello has lived up to every penny that the Red Sox have spent on him. He dazzled again last night, going 7 innings and only giving up 1 earned run in his return to Comerica Park. The offense came in bundles for the Sox as David Ortiz and Jackie Bradley Both hit 2 run homers in the first inning. Tigers starter Michael Fulmer wasn’t like himself yesterday allowing 6 runs in only 5.2 innings pitched. The Sox would go on to win 10-2 in game 2 of the series with Detriot. Tonight’s starters are Daniel Norris |DET| (1-1 3.47ERA) vs Drew Pomeranz |BOS| (9-9 2.99ERA).

THINGS TO WATCH FOR; Tigers starter Daniel Norris will make his sixth start of the season despite being mostly used as a bullpen reliever this year. Due to the injuries to Jordan Zimmerman and Mike Pelfrey he has been forced back into duty. Norris has faced the Sox once, going 3 1/3 innings and allowing 5 runs on 9 hits.

Sox First Baseman Hanley Ramirez has caught fire since coming back from bereavement leave going 12 for 28 with 14 RBIs. He looks to remain hot with a good matchup of a lefty going against him.

Sox starter Drew Pomeranz will look to pick up his second win with the Red Sox. In his last outing he went 7.2 innings giving up 2 runs to the Indians. Pomeranz has recently added a cutter into his arsenal of pitches and stated that he doesn’t want to be classified as only a 6 inning guy and wants to go deeper into games.

Sox Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr hit another home run yesterday which was his 4th in 5 days. He looks to continue his career best year tonight but faces a tougher matchup against left handed pitching. He has batted .250 against lefties and .293 against righties this season.

Tigers Outfielder Justin Upton will return to the lineup for the first time since Tuesday. He was given 3 days off to try and set his mind straight.
