On Wednesday afternoon, the New York State Sportswriters Association released their state football rankings for Week 5. Twelve Section II teams are now state ranked with several others being honorable mentions.

High School football in the area returns a day earlier this week, on Thursday to accommodate the Yom Kippur holiday. There will be games on the usual Friday and Saturday, as well as Thursday.
