NISKAYUNA —A Niskayuna man is facing charges for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl and causing her to give birth, police said.
Robert Cronin, 33, was arrested Monday and charged with predatory sexual assault of a child, a felony. If convicted, he could face 25 years to life in state prison.
Court records obtained by the Schenectady Gazette indicate that Cronin allegedly raped the child in early 2018. His arrest came in the wake of a two-month investigation spurred by a child abuse hotline call from a mandated reporter.
Cronin is being held in the Schenectady County Jail.
