New Visions: Multimedia & Digital Communications open house tonight

High school juniors:

So it’s February, you’ve finished midterms, you’re bored, you don’t want to be in school anymore, and you’ve got no idea what you want to do with your life, sound about right?

Consider that you still have one more year of high school to figure out the next big chapter that may include college, and afterwards, a dream career. Why not spend that time in the New Visions Multimedia & Digital Communications Program?

Do you like to Tweet or troll social media? Do you like to write, and not about zany English stuff? Do you like sports or have another field of interest, such as fashion, pop culture, music or politics?  If so, the TU Student News Desk has a place for you!

Spend half your school day at the Times Union and immerse yourself in the world of media, while also earning nine college credits and getting your name out there as an up-and-coming digital journalist.

This program is for storytellers who are curious about people, politics, culture and current events. It’s for the students who are interested in honing their skills in photography, videography, digital editing, blogging and news writing. You’ll become media savvy, gain valuable skills for college, and make life-long friends.

Some of our program’s graduates now work for big media firms including Sports Illustrated, Good Morning America/ABC and ESPN. Others have helped manage political campaigns, toured the country in a rock band, made documentary films, and founded a news service that covers issues related to the legalization of marijuana.

To find out more, get the scoop at our New Visions open house on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Capital Region Career and Technical Education Center (BOCES), building B, 1015 Watervliet Shaker Road, Colonie.

Can’t make it? No worries. Contact Anne-Marie Sheehan at (518)-454-5079 or [email protected] for more information.

You can submit your application online. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 10.
