Latest State Boys’ Soccer rankings released

Earlier today, the New York State Sportswriters Association released their latest boys soccer rankings. Of the 100 teams ranked across the state, 10 of them came from Section II.

CLASS AA

Leading things off at No.3 is the 11-1 Bethlehem Eagles, fresh off a 5-nil win over Mohonasen on Thursday. The Eagles will face some of their toughest competition tomorrow. They’ll be traveling to take on last year’s state runner-ups, the Ballston Spa Scotties, at 7:00p.m. No.13 Shaker and No.19 Shen round out the locally ranked Class AA teams.

CLASS A

Just like last week,  Queensbury is the lone ranked Section II team from Class A. After a 2-nil loss to Broadalbin-Perth, the Spartans slipped from No.6 to No.7

CLASS B

Down in small school land, the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots continue to occupy the No.2 slot, where they have been all season. Class B powerhouse Schalmont also remains in the rankings but slipped from No.11 to No.12.

Class C

The undefeated Maple Hill Wildcats remain at No.2 ahead of this weekend’s Fall Sports Weekend Tournament hosted by the Wildcats. No.10 Lake George remains ranked, while No.16 Mayfield has cracked into the rankings for the first time all season, showing Mechanicville the door.

CLASS D

Last year’s State Champions, the Fort Ann Cardinals, have not moved from their perch at No.1 and with Sectionals right around the corner, expect them to stay there.
