Guilderland dominates Nisky in Opener

A phenomenal all-around performance from the Guilderland Dutchmen was more than enough to propel themselves to a 57-7 victory over the Niskayuna Silver Warriors at Guilderland High School Friday night.

Dutchmen starting Quarterback George Marinopoulos was impressive, bouncing back from a interception on the second play of the game to spread the ball to multiple receivers well, spreading out the Warrior defense and open up options.

Senior Evan Gallup would have the first touchdown of the year, a 23-yard run in the first quarter to make it 7-0 Dutchmen, capping off an imposing seven-play, 86 yard drive in only 1:54.

Senior Steven Fedorchak would be next to score, returning a Nisky punt 55 yards to the house to make it 14-0.

Gallup would then score again, this time a short two yard run into the end zone, completing a six-play, 72 yard drive in 2:55, a drive that began with a 44-yard connection between Marinopoulos and Fedorchak and a 20-yard completion to Gallup that followed right after.

On the next drive, the Dutchmen would need only one play to score, a 61-yard bomb from Marinopoulous into the hands of Fedorchak, making it 28-0 early in the second quarter.

After a Matt Clark 31 yard field goal, another Dutchmen touchdown would make it a 43-0 game at the half.

The Dutchmen would slowly take their foot off the gas pedal, as a pair of touchdowns in the second half, including an impressive Joe Park run, would seal the deal to give the Dutchmen the victory, a great way to open up the season.

Nisky will stay on the road next Friday as they visit Colonie, while the Dutchmen will visit Saratoga in an important early season Section 2 matchup.
