Girls’ High School Basketball: Friday’s Suburban Council roundup

It was a busy Friday on the girls side of the spectrum and perhaps the matchup of the night came between Shenendahowa and Colonie.  Shen prevailed in a tight one throughout 71-64 and had great shooting performances from Cameron Tooley and Alexandra Tudor who both contributed with 20 points.  Meghan Gillooley had a clutch 14 points of her own and had a big 3 pointer late in the game to put Shen ahead for good.  Colonie had solid performances from Aliyah Wright who had 18, Alivia Paeglow 19, and Erin Fouracre with 13.

Averill Park defeated Albany 67-63 in yet another close game.  Park’s top scorer was Kathryn Stackrow who had 16 points, Mallory Wood also pitched in with 11.  While Albany’s Hasijna Gaddy had 19 points and Bridget Whelan had 17 points, it wasn’t enough to dethrone the Warriors.

Saratoga beat Guilderland 64-49 thanks in large part to Catherine Cairns who led all scorers with 17 points.  Guilderland’s Olivia Baumann led with 16.

The other scores:

Bethlehem 58 – Niskayuna 48

Shaker 60 – Columbia 36

Troy 65 – Burnt Hills 33

Ballston Spa 50 – Schenectady 24
