Fox Sports 980 fires Tred Hulse, ends lone local show

Tred Ho;se is out at Fox Sports 980.

Local sports in the 518 took a beating on Tuesday as Fox Sports 980 pulled the plug on its “Tred Show” in favor of Fox’s nationally syndicated show hosted by Doug Gottlieb.

The station, owned by iHeartMedia, fired drive-time host Tred Hulse, 13 months after he took over for Rodger Wyland, who moved to 104.5 “The Team,” the area ESPN affiliate in 2016.

“I was lucky enough to sit and talk with the late great Bruins radio voice Bob Wilson once, and he told me ‘give it 20-25 good years Tred, you won’t be sorry.’ Well, I gave it almost 24. I was let go today at Fox Sports 980,” said Hulse in a Facebook post.

It’s unclear if the station will introduce a new locally produced show or continue with its lineup of readily available national content.
