Former La Salle basketball standout charged in sexual assault case

SYRACUSE, NY — A former La Salle Institute basketball player was arrested and charged for involvement in a Syracuse area sexual assault case earlier this month, according to the Times Union and Syracuse.com.

Dominick Parker, 18, was arrested on Sept. 15 after an investigation found that he had sexual contact with an 18-year-old woman “while she was incapable of giving consent,” according to Syracuse.com.

Parker, originally from Stamford, NY, was listed as a walk-on on the Syracuse University men’s basketball team, but his name was removed from the team’s online roster Wednesday, the website went on to report. He played his first two seasons at the Troy school, coming off the bench as the team’s “sixth man.”

A university spokesperson, without directly identifying Parker, told the website that the student arrested on Sept. 15 was issued an interim suspension and declined to comment further, citing the on-going investigation.
